Canto y piano en la pampa is an educational social project with the aim of bringing music to remote places in the pampa del Tamarugal, in the Chilean desert. It encompasses 11 interactive concerts and 20 musical workshops with the schools and communities of the region, with a final gala concert for voice and piano in the theatre of the old abandoned salt mine Santiago de Humberstone.
This project consisted in working closely with students and communities of the pampa del tamarugal, interacting in an active way, breaking the structure of the "common" stage and making the audience participate in the sound narrative.
In addition to the musical workshops and concerts, the interaction with indigenous communities of Northern Chile enriches and expands the experience by interchanging traditions, languages and forming bridges between different cultures within Chile and abroad.
